Group Training

Robert Bisson:

What brought you to Mettle in the first place?
I was searching for a place that offered group fitness classes; that offered both strength and conditioning classes as I was looking to be in better shape and lose some weight. I wanted a place that could teach me and push me to do better.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?
That it was a gym where you could do hard core strength training if you wanted. Also no matter what your physique or goals that you would not be judged.

After 2 years my impression was correct; I feel at home there.

What was your first “bright spot” or highlight of your training/progress?
My highlight was losing weight and seeing my body change for the better which I wasn’t sure was possible at my age lol.

What are you training for now?
Continued improvement in both strength and physical fitness.

What’s your favorite Mettle memory? –
Being able to squat over 300 pounds haha

Kandis Harris:

What brought you to Mettle in the first place?

I was looking for a personal trainer and posted on FB to look for recommendations.  Jaime came highly recommended by several people on my FB feed.  I didn’t even know Mettle existed before I started working with Jaime!

What was your first impression? How has that changed?

Honestly, I had never been to a gym like Mettle before.  My first impression was that it was dirty and for guys that liked to lift heavy things.  My views have changed significantly since!!  I realized that Mettle is a big family — I go at the same time every week and you get to know the people that come at that time.  It is a very supportive workout family, regardless of where we are at in our journey.  The staff are excellent and always make us feel welcomed!  It is a GREAT way to start my day!!!

What was your first “bright spot” or highlight of your training/progress?

Moving to the group training session was a highlight for me.  I was scared to do it and did one-on-one with Jaime.  But then I took the leap and I’m grateful that I did! Working with a group really pushes you and motivates you!

What are you training for now?

I’m training to become a better version of me.  My goal is not weight loss (although that is a perk), but rather to feel strong, gain mental clarity, and to feel empowered.

What’s your favorite Mettle memory? –

The many laughs we share as a workout family.  I leave there stronger and more importantly, I leave smiling.  There is no better way to start your day then to spend time with people who push you to be better, while making your laugh.  It is the BEST medicine for all ailments!!

Christine Borschneck:

What brought you to Mettle in the first place?

Miss Jaime herself.  Wouldn’t of known about the gym otherwise.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?

My first impression of Jaime is that she’s an amazing, motivational trainer who is super consistent with her clients and is motivated by their achievements.  My impression still stands true on that.  As for the location, my first impression  is (then and now) in need of some maintenance and it’s simply ‘just a normal gym’.  It does the trick but is by no means fancy.  You go there to get the job done.

What was your first “bright spot” or highlight of your training/progress?

Always the people, members… always.

What are you training for now?

General health and well being.

What’s your favorite Mettle memory? —

Not one thing comes to mind, it’s always the laughter shared with the people your lifting with.

Tana Cameron:

What brought you to Mettle in the first place?

A friend of mine spoke very hightly of the gym and its trainers so I decided to pop in and chat with Tyler to learn more about what Mettle was about and if it would be a good fit for me.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?

I reached out to Mettle because I was unsatisfied with other gyms and trainers that I had worked with. Not with their methods necessarily but with their lack of customer service. Right off the bat I was impressed with the quick response from Tyler, we met within a week at a time that worked for me, then he made a great choice to pair me up with Jaime. I finally feel like I have met people who genuinely care about my success with my goals and respect that I like a split between working out on my own and at Mettle. My program is customized to me, not to a template that everyone follows.

What was your first “bright spot” or highlight of your training/progress?

I’m making progress towards my goals slowly but surely. My bright spot is that I’m now consistently working out every weekday at 5 am. My workouts are now routine and I miss it when I have to miss a day.

What are you training for now?

My main goals are consistency, weight loss, and confidence.

What’s your favorite Mettle memory?

I always look forward to Jaime’s 90’s rap mixes at my workouts. And her booming voice yelling at me (and the other athletes) to go harder!
